Bidri art takes it’s name from Bidar in Karnataka. It is believed to have originated in Persia during the reign of the Bahmani Sultans in the 14 th century CE.
It was brought to India by Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti in the form of utensils.

This unique paper weight is made from a blackened alloy of zinc and copper and inlaid with a floral pattern in pure silver. It weighs 86 grams and measures 1 × 1.8 × 1.8 inches. The paper knife is embellished with an intricate pattern in bidri work and weighs 20 grams and measures 6 .5 × 0.5 inches.
