Dhokra fish paper weight

Dhokra is an ancient art of moulding non ferrous metals around a cast of beeswax and clay.

It was used 4000 years ago during the Indus valley civilization.

The Dhokra Damar tribes of West Bengal perfected the technique using an alloy of bronze and copper.

It later spread to other parts of Central, eastern and southern India.

This dhokra fish curio brings a rustic, ethnic charm to your work table. Entirely handcrafted, the unique 13 stage process of Dhokra art using the lost wax moulding cire perdue is amongst the oldest traditional techniques of metal casting.

Perfect as a paper weight or decor accent, this unique, rustic fish weighs 70 grams and measures 4 × 2 × 1 inches
