Bidri art takes it’s name from Bidar in Karnataka. It is believed to have originated in Persia during the reign of the Bahmani Sultans in the 14 th century CE.

It was brought to India by Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti in the form of utensils.

Bidri is essentially pewter, a blackened alloy of zinc and copper , inlaid with delicate designs in gold, silver or copper.

Bidri art is known to have originated in Persia in the 14 th century CE during the reign of the Bahmani Sultans.

This unique paper weight is made from a blackened alloy of zinc and copper and inlaid with a floral pattern in pure silver.

It is dome shaped with a diameter of 2.2 inches at the base and a height of 1.2 inches. It weighs 85 grams.
